General Resources

SWEAC has benefited tremendously from most generous mentoring and guidance from the innovative and energized Northern Westchester Energy Action Consortium (NWEAC).

SWEAC is generously supported by the Westchester Community Foundation (WCF), a nonprofit community endowment for the benefit of Westchester County. Its mission is to develop and manage philanthropic resources, and to distribute them in a way that is responsive to donor interests and community needs. The Foundation actively promotes charitable giving on behalf of the area’s nonprofit organizations. WCF is a division of The New York Community Trust, one of the largest community foundations in the country with assets of approximately $1.8 billion.

Many of our participating municipalities are Climate Smart Communities, through a program developed by New York State and local communities. Its goal is to lower greenhouse gases and save taxpayer dollars through climate smart actions that also promote community health and safety, affordability, economic strength and quality of life.

Many of our municipalities are members of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability USA a membership organization of more than 600 USA local governments committed to climate protection and sustainability.

Some of our smaller participating municipalities have benefited from Community Catalyst Grants from Clean Air – Cool Planet.
